Among the featured content were the thought-provoking film Welcome to Maula Prison by Kaya Films, The Trap series by Ignatius Scot Kaphinde , and Tiko the Pangolin, an educative and inclusive sign language content by the Tikonze Apapa Foundation.

These grants aim to further promote the creation and growth of homegrown digital content that will continue to showcase the development of Malawi.
Guest of Honour, Hon. Dr. Vera Kamtukule, Minister of Tourism, praised MACRA and USF for their dedication to supporting Malawi’s creative community and uplifting local storytellers.
MACRA Director General Daud Suleman emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating that: “USF identifies gaps in the communications sector, and one of the critical areas is the lack of rich, meaningful, and engaging local content. This is why we launched the Local Digital Content Development Initiative, to ensure Malawians can create and access content that reflects their stories and culture.”
The cocktail event not only celebrated the milestones achieved so far but also set the stage for continued investment in Malawi’s digital creative ecosystem.
