The MACRA DG Daud Suleman has challenged the courier operators to be bold in their approach to digital innovation in the sector. He was speaking in Blantyre at a Data Protection Workshop for courier operators.
“Courier services are the building blocks of any digital economy, making it easy for e-commerce to thrive by ensuring ease in buying and selling of goods and services. This workshop aims to raise awareness on the newly enacted Data Protection Act while ensuring we build trust in our e-commerce infrastructure through lawful handling of personal data,” Suleman said.

The Act designated MACRA to enforce the legislation, which in part calls on companies to handle personal data lawful, transparently and confidentially.
The workshop is part of the Data Protection Authority’s drive in raising awareness on the Act, calling on companies that process data to comply with the Act, while empowering data subjects with their rights.
