MACRA has warned ICT operators and broadcasters that they risk having their licences revoked if they don’t settle licence fees and levy arrears within the agreed period.
The warning has been issued by MACRA director general Mr. Daud Suleman at a press briefing held in Blantyre today.
The ICT operators which include telecommunications, courier operators, and broadcasters are owing MACRA a sum of K9.4 billion.
The MACRA Board has been summoning operators since December last year, to agree on terms of payment in order to clear their arrears or face revocation.
Management has also intensified follow-ups on the declaration of levies by operators and some are complying.
