The Regulator recentry engaged with community broadcasters from across the country to train them on how to report on the COVID-19 pandemic.
broadcasting remains the hub of communication with over 80 broadcasting house half of which are community based. the community broadcasters play a very significate role as they broadcast in local languages making it easier for communities in which they operate in to to relate and understand broadcast messages.
the training was designed to equip the broadcasters with the accurate and correct information on the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the opening ceremony the Minister of Information Hon. Gospel Kazako stressed the importance of the broadcasting sector in communication. He called on media houses to detest from spreading fake news and messages of fear but to instead broadcast relevant and correct information to avoid an infodemic.
The training was facilitated by Dr. Mike Chisema a manager for expanded programme on immunization in the ministry of health.
