MACRA Presents Prizes to Letter Writing Competition winners

MACRA has presented prizes to three winning students and their schools in the 2022 International Letter Writing Competition for Young People aged between 9 and 15 years. The ceremony took place at Mhuju Community Day Secondary School in Rumphi.

A form one student from Lilongwe Girls Secondary School Christalom Chinthu Phiri has won the gold medal beating over 200 other learners while Asante Munthali, a form four student from Mhuju Community Day Secondary School in Rumphi and Benedict Chamatambe, a form two student from Loyola Secondary School in Kasungu won silver and bronze medals respectively.

This is an annual competition organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nations on postal matters, based in Switzerland. This year’s theme was ‘Write a letter to someone influential explaining why and how they should take action on the climate crisis.’

The winning letter was sent to UPU to compete at the international level.

Apart from the medals, laptops, laptop bags, and assorted MACRA branded materials, Christalom also went away with a dictionary, mathematical instrument and a scientific calculator while Asante received a mathematical instrument.

Winning schools received desktop computer and a printer.
