MACRA is this Week Facilitating a Road Naming Exercise in the Northern Region

This is part of activities taking place in support of the National Addressing System (NAS) project currently underway.

The naming exercise ensures that each road has a name in accordance with the NAS guidelines with the involvement of community representatives and councils.

The roads are named after different themes and physical features like rivers, animals, heroes, towns, or cities among others. This depends on what the community representatives and councils agree upon.

The Government of Malawi, through MACRA is implementing NAS. Apart from the four major cities of Blantyre, Zomba, Lilongwe, and Mzuzu where NAS implementation started, this year the implementation exercise is being extended to district councils.

NAS is a multi-stakeholder-driven national undertaking whose primary objective is to develop a robust national physical addressing system in the country
