MACRA introduces WebCP for operators, customers

MACRA has introduced Web Customer Portal (WebCP) to improve productivity for spectrum licensing.

WebCP is a module integrated with ASMS that allows customers to add, modify and submit their applications online.

Currently, operators use Automated Spectrum Management System (ASMS) which is not automated when applying for Spectrum Licences.

Spectrum management manager Dereck Kondwani said MACRA is migrating from the old system to address concerns and complaints from the operators who have been complaining of delays by the Authority to respond to their applications.

“Currently operators do all the paper work manually when applying or renewing spectrum licences and the trouble with paper-based systems is data entry,” said Kondwani.

He said with WebCP, the system is secure, versatile and interactive where customers will be able monitor every process of their application adding that there will be transparency to see the progress on the applications.

WebCP has the following applications: Radio/Spectrum Licenses, Radio Dealer Certification, Type Approvals and Complaints.

Recently MACRA organised a training workshop to orient the operators on how to use the portal.
