MACRA in consumer awareness campaign

MACRA has been implementing a campaign aimed at sensitizing
the masses on mobile fraud, distribution of pornographic materials and economic regulations. Among the activities, a team comprising officials from MACRA and the Malawi Police Service have been interacting with consumers through radio programmes.
In one such programmes aired live on 24 community radio stations across the country, consumers were allowed to phone in and ask questions on these issues.
MACRA Deputy Director of Consumer Affairs Kelious Mlenga said educating consumers on their rights is one way of curbing the growing cases of mobile fraud.
MPS also echoed the importance of consumer education in the prevention of cybercrime, stating that prevention is better than cure.
