MACRA donates 20 computers worth K17m to Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB).

The donation comes at a time when MANEB has embarked on an ICT upgrading project which will see the examination board going full automation by 2019 with electronic student registration and examination fee payment.

Speaking during the function which was held at MANEB offices in Zomba, MANEB executive director Mr. Gerald Chiunda said the examination board aims at bringing efficiency in the way it carries out its duties.

“MANEB has partnered with MACRA, TNM, AIRTEL and the department of E-Government to upgrade its ICT policy and project. The world is going full automation that is why as an institution we thought it wise to upgrade our ICT policies and upgrade our systems to allow students to be able to register online and give parents a chance to pay examination fees through Airtel money or Mpamba” he explained.

MACRA’s Director of postal services Mrs. Liza Msusa said MACRA was happy to partner with MANEB on the project.

“As an ICT regulator we are very pleased to partner with MANEB and pledge our continued support in any future endeavors.

“Truly the world is going full automation and we commend MANEB for this move” she said.

The computers will be distributed to all district counsel offices across the country
