Today MACRA held a full council meeting on National Addressing System (NAS) in Likoma Island where members were briefed about the benefits of the system. Speaking during the meeting District Commissioner for Likoma Island Mr. Abubakar Nkhoma asked members to embrace and own the system if it is to be successful in the district.
He said the system will bring sanity to the Island as streets will have names and houses numbered. NAS is meant to give physical addresses to all residents in the country through property and house numbering, street naming and postcodes.
Upon completion of the system, residents will be identified by their house numbers, streets along which their properties are located, and postcodes for those areas.
