MACRA presented prizes to three winning students in the 2023 International Letter Writing Competition for Young People aged between 9 and 15. The ceremony took place at Lilongwe Girls Secondary School in Lilongwe. This is an annual competition organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized body of the United Nations on postal matters and this year’s theme was “Imagine you are a superhero, and your mission is to make all roads around the world safer for children. Write a letter to someone explaining which superpowers you would need to achieve your mission.”

A 14-year-old form 1 student from Lilongwe Girls Secondary School Leadness Mbeya emerged as the overall winner while Shanil Saidi 15 from Lilongwe Girls and Meekness Chanyenga 15 from Likuni Girls came 2nd and 3rd respectively. MACRA received 338 entries against the 212 received last year. All the three winners went away with laptops and assorted MACRA branded materials.
Winning schools received desktop computers and heavy-duty printers. The winning letter has since been sent to UPU to compete at the international level.
