Radio Stations are among various communication organisations severely hit by the effects of Tropical cyclone Freddy.
In Nsanje district, Nyanthepa community radio station went off-air on Monday after the devastating impact of the Cyclone damaged communications infrastructure causing intermittent services and outages of services in many parts of the country.
Nyanthepa’s office building cannot be accessed as it has been flooded.

According to MACRA’s ETOC broadcasters report, the broadcaster’s power Inverter is down, and its solar system cannot pick due to the bad weather.
Currently, the station leadership is waiting for the water to recede.
On the other hand, Gaka Community Radio from the same district went off-air yesterday due to a power outage at its Mtengowaung’ono transmitter in Thyolo district. The radio is currently waiting for ESCOM to rectify the problem.
Meanwhile, Dzimwe Community Radio from Monkey Bay is still off-air due to the cyclone’s impact.
