The three-day National Broadband Mapping System workshop ended today in Lilongwe. The meeting focused on finalising stakeholder roles and responsibilities for Malawi’s broadband mapping project.
MACRA’s Deputy Director for ICT, Steve Perete highlighted the need for good coordination, data sharing, and protection. He said MACRA has a large amount of important data for the exercise and called for a working committee to ensure smooth cooperation among stakeholders.
Closing the event, MACRA’s Director of Telecommunications, Edward Kauka said the launch is an important step forward. He thanked the ITU, EU, and all participants for their support.
Kauka said the foundation has been laid, and the next step is to use the system effectively and agree on a clear policy definition of broadband for Malawi. He urged stakeholders to work together so no Malawian is left behind in the digital transformation.
