The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has demonstrated its commitment to building media capacity by contributing K4 million to Misa Malawi’s fundraising initiative. The aim is to build a training center at Mtolankhani House in Lilongwe.
Over the weekend, Misa organized a fundraising dinner and dance to raise funds for the estimated K50 million project. Minister of Information and Digitalization Hon. Moses Kunkuyu, emphasized the importance of the media training center in fostering professionalism and shaping an informed nation.
Kunkuyu reiterated the government’s dedication to supporting Misa Malawi and the media in the country. Keynote Speaker FDH Holdings Limited, Chief Executive Officer William Mpinganjira urged the media to uphold integrity, emphasizing the need for trust-building with the private sector.
Mpinganjira encouraged Misa to create opportunities for private sector engagement. Misa Vice Chairperson Chisomo Ngulube expressed gratitude to the government and private sector for overwhelming support. The event which was held under the theme “Media as a strategic partner for private sector growth and viability’ raised over K30 million.
