The Malawi Regulatory Authority, MACRA, has handed over a Data Centre to Nkhatabay District Council as part of this year’s World Post Day commemoration. World Post Day is celebrated each year on October 9 and to mark this day in Malawi, MACRA led the sector to joins hands and commemorate the day in Nkhatabay.
In his keynote address, MACRA Director General Daud Suleman urged the council to take care of Centre. “It might look like what we have donated is small, but let us protect the little we have.
Apart from the renovation of the Centre, MACRA has also furnished the centre state of the art ICT equipment and furniture which include 11 desktop computers, a binder, laminator, chairs and office desks, office cubicles and WLAN internet connectivity.

MACRA and the operators in the postal and courier industry took keen interest in the establishment of a Data Centre at Nkhatabay District Council which will be used by all sectors under the council. The day is crucial as it reminds the society of the importance of postal services in our everyday life, especially here in Malawi where postal services are pivotal in connecting remote communities to the rest of the world.
The establishment of the Data Centre in Nkhatabay follows establishment of other computer labs/Data Centres for various communities, like a computer laboratory at Nsanje Secondary School, and a Data Centre at Ntcheu DC’s Office.
