MACRA Holds Consultation Meetings FM Band refarming Exercise with Stakeholders

The MACRA Director General, Daud Suleman has reiterated that if the FM Band refarming is properly implemented, Malawi will have a stable broadcasting landscape. He made the remarks at the ongoing consultation meetings on the FM Band refarming exercise with different stakeholders.

“There is a future that is seen through the FM Band Refarming exercise. The broadcasting industry is a serious business and needs to be protected,” he said. Today MACRA and the task force were meeting media institutions namely; Misa Malawi, Media Council of Malawi and the Association of Women in Media (AWOME).

The refarming exercise which is being conducted through a taskforce comprising MACRA staff and engineers from the broadcasting industry is expected to be finalized by December 2023. It is aimed at providing a long-lasting solution to the challenges the broadcasting industry in Malawi has been experiencing.
